Hamilton refused to earn his first SPL home in the season - and point out the possibility of increasing their slim survival hopes - when substitute Nick Blackman claimed a part of the Aberdeen points in a 1-1. Dougie Imrie marks its appearance for FC 50 with the opener after goalkeeper Tomas Cerny denied front Dons Chris Maguire of the penalty of inks flat. But Blackman struck two minutes after coming off the bench to Hamilton nine points ahead of next week drop shock adrift with closest rivals St Mirren.
Initially, Hamilton made two changes from the side that defeated Hibernian for the visit of the Dons. Cerny recovered from the illness to claim the gloves of Sean Murdoch, while David Hopkirk began before Ali Crawford, who was named on the bench. But Simon Mensing presumably stopped at warming already FC were forced to make a final change in the road team, Mark McLaughlin of writing on the side. Aberdeen made a change from the side that lost to Celtic in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup, with Michael Paton added to the team and Josh Magennis was named among the substitutes.
Hamilton was the first real chance when Nigel Hasselbaink rose in the box only for his shot deflect Andrew Considine and fall wide. At the other end, Aberdeen threatened when Maguire called for 25 yards and Cerny was called into action to push past his left foot. FC had another decent chance when David Buchanan had launched Imrie in the box and he squared for Hasselbaink but Considine was the first to the ball to delete before the striker could connect in in front of the goal.
The Dons had the opportunity to build up in pressure when they won a 35-yard free kick and Cerny was called into action to pierce the effort to appreciate the Maguire out of play. Hamilton goalkeeper had to react quickly once again in the corner resulting to block a Considine bullet header after he pulled bandera-patada of Robert Milsom.
With half the time Imrie fast approaching corner broke for Hopkirk but he nodded slightly more than six yards, before Imrie swerving 30-yard drive crashed into the crossbar. Aberdeen were the most dangerous team after the restart and received a penalty after 52 minutes when the referee Calum Murray ruled that Steven Smith was fouled in the box by Gary McDonald. Intensified Maguire for the kick of field - the fifth Aberdeen against Hamilton this season - but was rejected by a large store of Cerny as he produced his third penalty of the campaign block.
Maguire sought to convert provider when he swept a lovely ball on the path of Scott Vernon in in front of the goal but McLaughlin came to the rescue on this occasion when he hooked out of the line. On the other hand, it was Hamilton who grabbed the opening in the 64th minute when Imrie ran on a pass from Hasselbaink before maintain their good temperature and slotting past goalkeeper Jamie Langfield. Langfield was forced out of action and replaced by Mark Howard two minutes later when he was captured in the face by the boot of teammate Zander Diamond. Aberdeen replaced Vernon with Blackman after 73 minutes and grabbed the goal two minutes later.
Maguire supplied the pass, squaring ahead of the goal of Blackman to rifle home at the end of postal and journey to the Dons back in the game. Blackman was denied his second goal of the day when his shot rebounded off Cerny and crashed off the vertical, as the match finished all-square.
