CHICAGO--as expected, the Los Angeles Dodgers had activated right-handed veteran Vicente Padilla on the 15-day disabled list for the first time this season before the game on Friday with the Cubs in Chicago at Wrigley Field.
Padilla, who had been marginalized already undergoing surgery in February to free a trapped in a muscle in his right forearm, nerve made two rehabilitation appearances this week at class A Rancho Cucamonga.
Because the Dodgers have five incoming established and due to the injury of Padilla prevented it to create entries in spring training, is going to the bullpens full time for the first time since 2001, when he was with the Philadelphia Phillies. Since then, Padilla has made a relief appearance, throwing two innings of laundering to the Dodgers on September 30, 2009, in San Diego.
Administrator of Dodgers Don Mattingly said that there are no restrictions on Padilla, except that he would prefer to use Padilla to start an entry.
Mattingly also said that because Padilla has been started in the last nine seasons, will be some trial and error as Padilla determines how quickly that can be properly heating in the bullpens before entering a game.
Padilla was 6-5 with a 4.07 ERA in 16 starts for the Dodgers last season, missing nearly two months in the season with the injury of forearm which eventually led to the surgery two months ago. He also lost two final weeks of the season with a disc bulky around his neck.
To delete a list for Padilla, the Dodgers optioned palliative Ramon Troncoso triple Albuquerque immediately after the victory of 12-entry on Thursday on the Atlanta Braves.
