CHICAGO - First attempt of theft of career A.J. Ellis was memorable, at least for the Chicago Cubs. Administrator of Dodgers Don Mattingly said Saturday a lost sign carried dash Ellis per second during the opening of that annoying Cubs manager Mike Quade. Los Angeles was leading 8-1 on Friday when the recipient attempted to steal second with pitcher Chad Billingsley to the plate in the top of the fifth inning. Geovany Soto threw out it, but Quade was suffering even after the loss of 12-2 of the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Mattingly Quade spoke before game on Saturday, and the Cubs Manager called his counterpart "a class type".

Mattingly, in his first year as manager of the Dodgers, confirmed it was a mistake but he defended a work execution in such a situation. Mattingly "long history, lost the sign," said. "That not trying to execute there." Definitely won't run A.J. Not to do so, but Wrigley and the other day that we took eight runs in the ninth. "We are trying to win a game, but not running from there."

Los Angeles surrendered eight runs in the ninth inning of a loss of 10-1 against Atlanta on Tuesday. Mattingly said third base coach Tim Wallach mistakenly thought Mattingly wanted a lightning bolt and gave the signal for a play. Wallach, realizing his mistake, then waved the play out, but Ellis, who had seen the initial sign, see the wave of earnings.

Quade has not apparently forgotten Carlos Gómez stealing second and third with Milwaukee, leading to Chicago 5-0 in the eighth inning on April 9. Gómez went on to score the final run of the Brewers in a 6-0 victory. "I think that I should probably get a copy of the Milwaukee and books of rules of unwritten L.A., I also believe" spontaneous, Quade said Friday. "I don't know if they lost a sign or if you are not sure of was a lightning bolt or something." "I've already got to brush up on my unwritten rule things."
